Olhao is a lot more than seems these days. A thriving fishing village where it boasts the largest indoor fish market in the Algarve, it's also turning into a bit of a hidden gem for tourists and here's why. It's only a 10 minute drive from the airport - 5 if you go with our mate Nuno. it is awash with amazing bars and restaurants serving fabulous food, fresh from the Atlantic and old backstreets where you will find lots of shops. The best bit - is the proximity to the islands of the national Park all a short boat ride away where you discover the most amazing beaches that only really get a little busy in August. So much to do here oh and did we mention the annual seafood festival that takes place every August - if you like you food from the ocean, this is paradise and it's not just fish, bands, markets and entertainment for 3 action packed days.
