The former fishing village of Stoupa, 10km south of Kardamyli, is a resort village popular with British package tourists and Greeks. In recent years, with the reduction in international flights to Kalamata, it sees a few more independent travellers, though is at its most pleasant during the shoulder seasons. It has excellent beaches with wonderfully clean, cold water, courtesy of underground springs, and there's good hiking to be done in the hills above the village.
