Gozo is Malta's sister island and has a different charm apparent as soon as you arrive. It's a bit more laid back, more tranquil, less hustle and bustle and its greener and more rural. It's worth a visit even for a day trip if not to spend a few days here. Gozo, steeped in Myth, is thought to be the legendary Calypso's island of Homer's Odyssey. It's really peaceful and scenic with old baroque churches and traditional farm houses littering the country landscape. There is lots of history with forts and one to visit, the very well preserved prehistoric temples of Ggantija. (no that's not a typo).
If you a keen scuba diving enthusiast, this is a great place to visit because of the numerous shipwrecks beneath the seas for this rugged coastline.
