Located twenty-two kilometres away from the capital, most of its township is taken up by the Bay of Cadiz Nature Reserve. The historic quarter, with white, well-preserved houses, has many interesting monuments, such as the hermitage of Santa Ana, from the 18th century, the church of San Juan Bautista, from the 19th century, and the castle of Sancti Petri, from the 13th century, a former military fortress. Nonetheless, its main attractions are found at the vast beach of Barrosa, and at the spa of Fuente Amarga, with medicinal waters.
