Poros is a beautiful island separated from the mainland by a 350m strait – so it is barely an island – therefore holidaymakers can enjoy relaxing sunshine days on Poros' beaches and tour the Peloponnese mainland whenever the mood takes them! Boats cross from Poros Town to Galatas so hire a car for a holiday with so many exciting possibilities.

Lively nightspots, cafés, and shops line the waterfront in Poros, creating a distinctive atmosphere of traditional charm. It's a popular choice for holidaymakers and Athenians who stay for the weekend or sail in on their yachts, so there's a nice mix of cultures.

Set in crystal-clear waters between the mainland and the Peloponnese, its tavernas, quaint alleys and vine-draped whitewashed homes, overlook yachts glistening in the marina alongside local fishing boats. The coast is blessed with beaches ranging from bustling watersports centres to secluded, peaceful bays fringed by forests, with plenty of golden sands where families can relax and play.

For days out visit the 4BC Epidaurus, one of the finest monuments where productions of Classical Greek dramas can be enjoyed on Friday and Saturday nights during high season.

A day trip to Nafplio will stay in holiday memories for a lifetime - this beautiful 19th century town is on the coast so enjoy the journey and stop for lunch at one of the inviting restaurants.

If you do not want to hire a car, an hourly bus service from Poros Town goes along the coast via Askeli, while a taxi to most beaches should cost around six euros.
