FESTOS-GORTYS-MATALA: On the way you will have the chance to stop by the amazing Kourtaliotiko gorge, and admire the spectacular view and take some photos. Then you will
visit the second most important Minoan palace on Crete – Festos where the famous Disc
of Phaistos was found, the archaeological site which used to be the oldest
settlement on Crete & the capital of Crete in Roman Times. Then on to Gortys, to admire the Odeon Ruins, the
Christian Basilica of Saint Titos and the most Ancient Law Code in Europe.
Finally we visit Matala beach which
used to be popular during the 60's by the hippies and where you can visit the
Neolithic caves. On the way back we
will stop in the traditional Cretan village of Spili, famous because of the Venetian fountains with lion heads and traditional cretan products you
can find in local shops. Entrance to Festos is 8 Euros, and entrance to Gortys is 6 Euros. Children under 18 are free.
