This is one of Larnaca’s more controversial landmarks as it prohibits women from entering. The monastery, which is still a fully functioning holy site, is situated high in the hills offering stunning views of the land. The residents are committed to maintaining the orthodox traditions and sanctity of this place of worship and accordingly hold visitors to the same stringent rules, which include a male-only admission policy. There is a smaller church on the site that female guests may enter whilst male guests are given a tour of the site. This is a unique opportunity to see a site, little changed by the passage of time.
