The small peninsula that separates Skiathos town promanade was originally a high castle walled settlement dating back to 1207, but due to many years of conflict the buildings that followed over the centuries were destroyed and rebuilt until a school was finally built there in 1906 which is the building that currently stands there today, although it is now used as a private government building instead of a school. A bust of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the islands most famous former resident stands at the entrance to the former school. It is pleasant place to sit and watch the world and the boats coming and and out of Skiathos offering stunning views over the port and town. Due to its stunning location it is a popular place for couples to wed.
