Playa del Albir is quite pebbled, not sandy. It is however, long and flat for a walk to Altea. The scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of cafes etc. for refreshment. As usual for Spain there are plenty of exercise areas and children's play parks. A very pleasant area which also links to a pleasant walk to the lighthouse.
