In my opinion one of the most interesting areas of Corfu town. When under the rule of the French, this area of town was restricted to only persons of high ranking in the army or those of great wealth and it is said its name spells from this.
Your name had to be on the list to be allowed to walk on the white marble stones, hence the title of the area "the Liston". Today everyone is welcome to walk along the area or sit in the cafe bars that line the area and simply watch the world go by.
In days gone by it was said to be the area young ladies would parade themselves up and down attracting interest from young gentlemen looking for a wife.
Today the area simply attracts locals and visitors due to the relaxing atmosphere by day and its vibrant feel as night approaches.
