Pre-departure Covid test

All passengers over the age of 10 need to complete a pre-departure Covid test no earlier than 72 hours prior to your arrival back in the UK. If you have not brought with you on holiday a self test from a private clinic in order to arrange an online virtual video call test, we are aware at present of several options on the island in order to be able to obtain a Covid test certificate for travel.

1) Skiathos Emergency private clinic located next to bus stop 3 in Skiathos Town on the outer ring road. PCR tests are €60 priced at per person and can be booked up to 5 days in advance by calling +30 24270 22111 / +30 24270 22115 between 09.00 and 20.00. Test results / certificate are usually received by email or by collection in person from the clinic between 12 and 24 hours after the test depending on time of day test was taken.

2) Enzyquest test centre Skiathos airport departure area. Test is bookable online at www.enzyquest.com/skiathos/ or by calling +30 6988 56000. PCR test is €60 per person, PCR cut off for end of day results is 13:30 (Mon–Thu–Fri-Sun) and 15:00 (Tue-Weds-Sat). Samples collected later will be processed by end of next day and certificate will be emailed to you or for possible collected from testing centre. For group appointments please use only email or telephone or email: skiathos@enzyquest.com

• We recommend as appointment slot times appear limited that you make your appointment at the earliest opportunity. Olympic holidays are unable to make any test appointments on your behalf due to data protection reasons as you will need to provide personal details and information for you appointment.

• Both clinics also offer lateral flow tests as a cheaper option (approximately €20 per person). All UK airlines flying from Skiathos and UK government websites say that these type of tests are acceptable and we have been advised that UK travellers have used these tests to re-enter the UK without issue, however the clinics would not fully guarantee that these would be accepted by UK airlines or UK border staff, so we can only recommend PCR tests as guaranteed certified option. If you still wish to use a lateral flow test option from these private centres this must be discussed with them when making appointments and is at your own risk should you chose this option. You will need to take along your passport for all Covid test appointments.

• Skiathos Public Health Clinic are also offering free lateral flow Covid tests to tourists at the white building on the main port jetty in Skiathos town port, Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 3.30pm. It is a walk-in centre and not possible to make an appointment, and due to popularity of being a free test for anyone, you may have to queue up to an hour or two at busy times to receive your test. In addition to your passport you may be asked to show a copy of your entry to Greece Passenger locator form in either a paper copy or on your phone. Once tested you are able to request by email a letter / certificate of your results several hours after test. Although this email / certificate has been accepted by many European countries and there are reports that people have travelled back to the UK with this certificate and that this has been accepted by UK airlines and on entry into the UK, it is not confirmed that these tests meet the requirements as the UK government website stipulates that the test must be conducted by a ‘private test provider’ where this service is provided by the Greek government, so if you wish to use this service for your return test it is entirely at your own risk.

• When you receive your certificate please ensure it stipulates the following information as stated on the Government website:-

o Your name, which should match the name on your travel documents

o Your date of birth or age

o The result of the test

o The date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider

o The name of the test provider and their contact details

o Confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR test

• Failure to obtain a valid test certificate may result in you being denied boarding for your flight. Should this happen any costs relating to additional accommodation or flights etc will be your responsibility, you may also receive a fine of up to £500.00 per person on entering the UK if unable to produce a valid certificate at UK Border Control.

• You will also need to arrange a further test to be taken two days after your return to the UK, of which details of this test booking will need to be entered when completing your UK passenger locator form 48 hours before you return to the UK. You may also be asked to prove you have arranged this either before your flight or entry into the UK. Depending on the company you use in most cases this can be booked online and must be a government recognised clinic / service as listed on the Gov.uk website. Further tests and quarantine in the UK may be required if you are an unvaccinated traveller.

• Olympic holidays are not affiliated with any of these testing services therefore cannot be held responsible for accuracy of information detailed here which has been provided by the testing centres themselves, nor can they be held responsible for any failure or complication of service or inability to secure an appointment of any testing supplier, where this letter is only to advise of testing options that we are currently aware of.

We strongly recommend you read the information (especially if unvaccinated as information may differ) of full details of what you need to know and of your responsibility can be found at the UK government website:- https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england#take-a-coronavirus-test-before-you-travel-to-england
