The hermitage of San Antonio de Padua is located in Lajares, municipality of La Oliva , it was probably built during the 18th century, although there are no historical references to its foundation.
In the pastoral visit made by Bishop Tavira to the island of Fuerteventura, in the year 1792, no mention is made of this church and, within the municipality of La Oliva, in addition to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria parish, they only mention the following hermitages: in Caldereta, Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and San Miguel , in Vallebrón Nuestra Señora de Gracia and San Juan Bautista and in Tindaya Nuestra Señora del Rosario, some currently disappeared. To these hermitages we should add Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje in El Cotillo and Nuestra Señora de la Caridad in Tindaya, who are probably not mentioned in the visit to Tavira because the bishop did not visit them.
