Birżebbuġa is a flourishing, but small seaside town close to Marsaxlokk. Its shoreline hugs St George's, with Pretty Bay close by. The latter is a sandy beach that has been a popular bathing spot for decades. Pretty Bay wasn't always a sandy beach, being a naturally rocky area. In recent years, the bay was artificially filled with sand that had been dredged up from the sea. This beach lies right in the centre of town, which means there are plenty of shops and restaurants along the coastline. Towards St George's Bay, you will find a rocky shore which is ideal for sunbathing and snorkelling.
