Affectionately called 'il-Bambina' by the locals - this parish church is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. In fact, inside the stunning marble interior, you will find a particularly beautiful statue of the young virgin Mary, also cut out of marble. This statue was brought here from Marseilles in 1878.
Owing to the fact that the parish celebrates its feast day on the same date as the commemoration of the victory of the Knights over the Turks during the Great Siege of 1565 (8th September), it is also referred to as Il-Vittorja (Our Lady of Victories).
The present structure grew from an older building, first recorded in the late seventeenth century. The foundation stone of the church we see today was laid in 1815, while the church was consecrated in 1878.
