Built between 1839 and 1844 in the Neo-Classical style, the Cathedral's spire rises to over 200 feet (60 metres), and is a well-known landmark in Valletta. This cathedral was funded by the Dowager Queen Adelaide when she discovered that there was not an Anglican church in Malta, at the time of her visit in 1838-39. In order to build this structure, the Auberge d'Allemagne, which was home to the German Knights, had to be knocked down.

With beautiful Corinthian columns, an imposing portico, and an austere exterior, this cathedral is not to be missed, this is a reminder of the first Christian missionary in Malta
