Taste The Cretan Way Of Life

Taste the cretan way of life; On this trip you will get to experience the traditional village life in Crete.  Our first stop will be at one of the Cretan village olive  oil factories in Lefkogia.   After that we will visit the next traditional Cretan village of Asamatos, where we stop at a ceramic workshop.  Here you can watch the potter as he creates and reveal the secrets of traditional way of pottery making, which uses the red Cretan clay. After that follows a visit to a folklore museum, which will take you on a journey into the past of the island.  The "Oriseum", as it is called, is a place of an unusual and unique collection of artifacts from Cretan life founded by Papo Michalis Georgoulokis.   From Asomotos we will continue our trip to Sellia - a village famous for the production of the best cheese on the south coast of Crete. Here we will visit a cheese factory, where you will be able to observe the process of local dairy production. At the end of our trip we will have free time & lunch in the village of Mirthios. You can enjoy a walk around the place and visit the local jewelry and souvenirs shops. For those who will be interested a lunch with traditional Cretan  appetizers can be arranged in one of the local tavernas.  Entrance to the Oriseum is 3 Euros, Optional Lunch is 7 Euros.
