This place is called The Shipwreck for obvious reasons but back in the day it was called the famous Smugglers Cove, Why? well legend tells us that the ship was wrecked in a storm back in the 1950's carrying a cargo of contraband tobacco and spirits. (Ironically you can only access the shipwreck by boat.) Is it true? who knows but never let the truth get in the way of good story. Most people visit by boat as its the only way to access the beach unless you are a little crazy and base jump your way down. Seriously its a major event on the island every August, The Navagio beach base jumping festival. This is one of the most famous sights on the island found on the northern coast - spectacular scenery and you will pass the famous Blue Coves if heading up from the East.
